A Day at Dauset Trails

I can remember going to a place called Dauset Trails when I was in elementary school.  Until recently, I had totally forgot about the place.  Megan asked one day if I would like to go with her and Shelby to walk around and see the animals there.  I agreed and we packed a picnic lunch and we headed out late one morning for a visit.  We got there and everyone was hungry so we decided to eat before heading onto the trails.  There are picnic tables available for use and I look around and noticed that many of them had lunch boxes from daycares and camps already on them.  So looking at the empty tables I choose one that didn't have a squirrel, crows, or geese wandering around it.  Well, that didn't help much.  As soon as we sat down, the geese began to wander in our direction.  Caleigh was so frightened by them that she ate her lunch on top of the table!
It didn't help that Shelby kept calling out to the geese and throwing her food to them!  They were not nice geese.

Caleigh really liked feeding the otters.  Two of them were very fiesty and entertaining.  One guy just wanted to hang out and not be bothered by the other two.
 She really liked the pigs.
At this point, Caleigh is peering through the trees to check the location of the roosters she keeps on hearing.  Ever since she witnessed the rooseter attack my legs earlier this year, she has a pretty deep fear of roosters.  And this place had TONS of roosters roaming around!
She posed with a cute owl carved out of a tree stump.
Caleigh and Shelby loved looking at the goats.  Some of the roossters were roosting in the barn directly behind them so they didn't stay with the goats for long.
The reptile center proved to be interesting.  They liked sitting on the wooden alligator.
She really liked the alligators in the glass aquarium.
All in all, it was a fun trip if you take out the geese and the roosters and a funny trip if you include them!
