Sock Bun Fun

Occasionally, Caleigh asks me to play with her hair.  Other times, I have to fight with her just to get it brushed!
On this rare occasion, she asked me to put her hair in a sock bun.  I am not very good at things like this but not matter how terrible it looks, Caleigh usually seems happy with it.  AND, if it takes me more than one try to get it right, I might as well quit.  She has no patience when it comes to getting her hair done.  I get one try.  And ONE only!

We have a sock that we keep in her hair drawer.  It is a never worn men's sock with the toe cut off and rolled up upon itself.
We pull her hair into a ponytail and then slide the sock on.  We slide the sock to the end of the ponytail and then begin rolling the hair down the sock.  We spread the hair around the sock and we're done!

I think it looks precious.  I only wish she would let me do things like this more often!

Buck & Spongebob

Caleigh has a fear of dogs.  She even fears most puppies. She doesn't even like going into people's houses if they own a dog, no matter the size of the dog. If she can easily hold the dog, then she warms up to it and usually can't put it down. However, since most puppies and small dogs are very active, she doesn't find many dogs that she likes.  When Mish got a puppy, she was excited and upset at the same time. She no longer wanted to visit Mish's house unless the dog was outside.
After many fits and lots of yelling, Caleigh finally warmed up to being around Buck, Mish's dog, after a few forced visits.  She then became so comfortable with him, she was giving him commands and letting him eat the reward treat right out of her hand!  She even got down on the floor and played with him at his level.  She now begs to go TO Mish's house....and it's not to see Mish.  It's to see Buck!  LOL!

And Spongebob gets mentioned because he was created by Mish and Caleigh from an actual sponge.  Caleigh watched a tutorial video on how to make him and she wanted to make one right away.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find a plain yellow sponge.  I could find scrubbing ones and ones that were all different colors but I could not find just a plain yellow sponge.  Granny finally found one for her and a few days after watching the video, she convinced Mish to help her make one!  They were both so proud!

CFA Cow Appreciation Day 2013

For the past few years, our family has had some fun celebrating Chick-fil-a's Cow Appreciation Day.  Last year Chad got to participate with us and Caleigh loved it. He had to work this year, so it was just the two of us this time.  We made masks last year out of paper and ribbon and that was the one thing Caleigh requested we do again this year. I wasn't going to make them again but at her insistence we made some up real quick.
They were actually quite a hit!
Caleigh loved dancing and playing games with the cows!

She REALLY enjoyed her lunch! A sandwich instead of nuggets!
Her favorite employee posed for a quick pic too!
We hit Truett's for dinner too! There is no such thing as too much CFA .... especially if it's free!

Shelby Sleeps Over!

Shelby has never spent the night away from home.  While visiting Granny and Granddaddy the other night Shelby said she wanted to go home with me!

I said OK!

I honestly didn't think she really wanted to, but she did!  Her mom, on the other hand didn't really want her to go.  But she let her come and it was a smooth and uneventful evening.  We came home late so Caleigh read Shelby a bedtime story and then we went to bed.

Shelby was mad I didn't let her sleep with Caleigh but she quickly got over it and went right to sleep.
Caleigh woke up before Shelby and had to wait on her to wake up so they could have breakfast together, muffins and cereal was their choice.
Then, it was time to play!  They played together so well all morning!  Shelby, who is still potty training, had no accidents all morning long!
She put on this jacket and wanted me to zip it up.  Then she wouldn't take it off!
Megan arrived and brought us all some lunch and then we took the girls outside to play.  Shelby had played hard all morning and she fell fast asleep while in the swing!  SO CUTE!
Megan and Shelby then took a nap and I invited them to stay for dinner but she declined and they left.  Shelby did so good during her first sleep over.  However, I think her mom may have had a hard time sleeping at all that night!

Girls Night Out

I love my husband.
He arranged a full girl's night out for me AND offered to babysit 4 kids so it could happen!

In addition, he used reward points to secure us a $25 gift card to Chili's, a coupon for a free dessert at Chili's, and a $25 Regal movie gift card!
HE ROCKS!

So, my friend and I went to Chili's and proceeded to stuff ourselves silly tapas style!  We ordered a little bit of all the appetizers and chowed down!

We were beyond full but with a coupon for a free dessert valid only on that day, what else were we supposed to do?  Ronnie convinced me that this was the smallest dessert on the menu.  However, maybe it was because we were so full, or maybe not, when it arrived it seemed rather large!
And what's a great dessert without a hot cup of coffee to go along with it!?
While eating, we called Mish and asked her if she wanted to join us for the movie, and she did!
Here is our attempt at a picture inside the theater.
We saw the movie, The Heat. And we laughed.  And laughed.  And laughed.
We even came out of the movie laughing.  There was an attendant holding the door waiting to clean the theater as we were leaving.  Missy asked him if we could go out the side door that was closest to us.  He wittily responded, "It says exit."
We walked toward the door and Missy says "Well, I didn't know if an alarm would go off or something if we used this door."
The guy must have heard her because as soon as she opens the door, he very loudly started making an alarm sound!!!  We died laughing and Missy hollers back, "Not funny!"
BUT IT WAS!

Kota's 3rd Birthday

Happy Birthday Dakota!

Kota's 3rd Birthday and her party were on the same day.  The day began with breakfast at IHOP.  Chad had to work and couldn't come to the party so I family joined hers and Mish at IHOP for breakfast!

She was surprised to see us all there when she got there!  She was even more surprised when practically every server in the place brought her ice cream and sang to her!
I love this sweet picture of the two of them!

After breakfast, Dakota went home for a nap, Chad went to work, and Caleigh, Mish, and I went and did some shopping.  Then we headed to Dakota's house for her party!
So maybe the Great American Cookie Company can't decorate awesome all the time, at least it always tastes the same-----GREAT!
Shortly after the party began, Tinkerbell arrived!  She gave fairy wings, tattoos, and body glitter to anyone who wanted it.  She also helped the girls make themselves a goody bag.
All the little ones loved having party food with Tinkerbell!
And then the pony arrived!  It was ready to party too!  She was all dressed up as well!

Kota had such a good time at her party!  We were the last ones to leave and when we did, she was finally starting to feel the weight of her day!  Bedtime for that little fairy followed immediately as she clutched her favorite new present.
Happy 3rd Birthday sweet Kota!  We hope you loved your day!

The Tooth Fairy Came!

Ever since the Tooth Fairy visited Caleigh's preschool, she has been obsessed with losing a tooth so the tooth fairy would come see her.  In fact, I think she probably wiggled her teeth until she found one who would move and she kept on moving it.  I warned her to stop messing with it or it might become really loose, but she didn't listen and it DID become really loose.  And it turned VERY DRAMATIC!
She complained that the tooth was hurting her and I told her I would pull it.  She became terrified and wouldn't let me near her.  She literally laid face down in the hallway screaming so I gave her the options of letting me pull it, her pulling it, or we could go to my parents house and let her granddaddy pull it.  I explained to her that he pulled all of mine when I was little as well as all of her aunts' teeth.  She wanted nothing to do with any of those options so I put her to bed screaming.

I took a shower and when I got out, she was standing there dressed and no longer crying.  She told me to take her to see granddaddy.  So, at 8:30pm we loaded up and made the 20 minute drive to their house and waited for Chad to meet us there when he got off work.

I took one last picture of her with all of her teeth.

After a few tries and Caleigh backing away from fear, the following took place.

The after photo!
Then Caleigh decided that she just wasn't ready to part with her tooth.  So, she wrote a note asking the Tooth Fairy if she could please keep her tooth.  THEN, she went to bed and decided that she didn't want the Tooth Fairy to come in her room while she was sleeping.  We had to assure her that the fairy had a magic wand and wouldn't come in if Caleigh didn't want her to.  Drama, drama, drama! LOL!
After ALL the drama, Caleigh woke up with a toothless smile on her face.  She had her tooth, some money (she says she will use for games at Six Flags), and a sweet note from the Tooth Fairy.
While she was super excited, I was secretly super sad, yet proud at the same time.  All I could see was her childhood slipping farther and farther away from her and from me.  My little girl is growing up way too fast!

Six Flags Mommy-Daughter Day

So I woke up one day and thought, I think I'll take Caleigh to Six Flags.  Why not?  Just me and her.  She would love it!  So, I got us ready and we headed out the door and when I loaded up the car, she figured out where we were going.  She was so excited!  We arrived right at lunchtime and were so pleased to have pleasant weather small crowds.

This girl loves her some Six Flags.  It is a perfect time for her to go since she is under 54in which is required for all rides in Bugs Bunny World and she is over 48in which is required for most all of the larger rides (with the exception of those that require you be over 54in- Goliath, Superman, and Batman).  So, other than those three rides, Caleigh can ride EVERY SINGLE ride in the place!  And she does!

On this particular trip, we watched a few shows at Caleigh's request.  Caleigh got to meet, dance with, and have her picture taken with many of the Looney Toons favorites!
She even danced with Tweety Bird during one of the shows!
We had such a good time!  Just the two of us! I hope I remember this day when she's 15 instead of 5 and doesn't even want me to be in the same vicinity of her in the park!
