At the beginning of the summer, Caleigh signed up for the Summer Reading Program at our local library. Since she is still learning to read, her goal was to be read to for at least 10 hours this summer. Caleigh loves books and she gets read to almost every night so this was a piece of cake for her. She gets to check out 10 books from the library each week and we read them all as much as she wants until we go back and she chooses 10 more.
The finale of the program was to conclude with a special show by Ronald McDonald. We showed up to an empty parking lot and I quickly looked to see that the show had been rescheduled for the next week. So, the next week we show up again to an empty parking lot. I check again and see that the time had changed to the afternoon instead of the morning. So, after a morning doctor's appointment for her asthma and then lunch at one of her favorite places to eat, we showed up at the library at the right time for the show.
Caleigh was a little bit timid at first and sat close to me and held on to my arm. She wasn't really sure about the whole clown thing. I can't blame her. I don't like clowns myself.
He was putting on a really entertaining and interactive show.
Soon, Caleigh was enjoying herself.
And she even made her way on to the floor with the rest of the children.
After the show, Caleigh turned in her reading record and got a certificate of completion, a coupon for a free meal at IHOP, and she got to pick out a book to keep! She choose Fancy Nancy. She was so excited that she had gotten a book from the library that she liked and that she didn't have to return! She was one proud little girl!
She loves it when Aunt Mish reads to her.. lol =)
