Batman Party

KAPOW!

It's a Batman Party!  My mom volunteered to help throw a 4th birthday party for a dear friend.  Since we have all girls around here, it is quite rare when we do "boy" themed parties.

This is the banner that my mom cut out and I strung.
This is a picture of "Gotham City".  We used foam boards and paint and made cardstock cutouts of a city that my mom designed.
There was tons of snack food to go with the pigs in a blanket and beans that were served.  The cake was Batman pull apart cupcakes.
The goodie bags were buckets with each child's name in a Batman symbol filled with all sorts of Batman items (coloring books, stickers, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, frisbees, a water bottle, candy, etc)

Singing Happy Birthday and then it was time to enjoy some cake!

As you can see, the icing on the cupcakes had lots of dark colored food coloring and it lent well to tongue and face discolorations.
Pin the Bat symbol on Gotham City was played as well as a bean bag toss game.  I made the bean bags on my first attempt at sewing on my own.  After a monumental mess up on my first try, I got  the hang of it and made five more.  They were the hit of the party.  Everyone wanted to toss the popcorn filled bags.  The bags actually double as warm compresses because you can heat them up and place them on sore or achy muscles and they feel great!

After sewing the bean bags, I then sewed some of the capes you see.  I even installed velcro on the tabs of some (not so easy for me).  I think I jammed the sewing machine up more time than I acutally spent sewing but my patient mom never got mad at me for it!

The kids loved the capes and wanted to go outside (in the putrid heat) and fly like Batman!  So, they did!

The birthday boy had a great time playing and got lots of presents that were Batman and Spiderman themed.  I think all the kids had a great time and I had fun helping to get all the details ready for the day. As the birthday boy's grandpa said, my mom is the "Party Animal".  She never ceases to amaze me.  I can't wait to see what Caleigh's birthday will be like this year!
