Caleigh's first day of PreK4 went great! She woke up early and was very excited to go. I know this excitement won't last the whole school year, so I will take what I can get. She had her outfit all picked out and got dressed without complaint. I had purchased all sorts of goodies for her first day of school breakfast and she wanted none of them. She simply wanted to have a bowl of cereal (which she didn't even eat).
Chad did not get to attend open house the day before so he had yet to see her new classroom. Caleigh was practically dragging him through the halls to her room.
Once in her classroom, she was greeted by a morning hug from her new teacher. What a great way to start a school year!
She quickly took care of her morning responsibilities and found her seat. She began her work and I snapped a few more pictures.
I went to tell her bye and she whispered a small "I don't want you to leave me" under her breath without looking away from her work.
I smiled and reassured her that I would wait another minute and then I would be back to get her later. I let her continue to work and we quietly slipped out the door without her noticing.
We got back in our car only to find that it barely wanted to crank. We drove it to our local auto parts place where I purchased the battery for the car back in December of 2008. They tested the battery and were told "it has a busted cell, it's bad" by a very unenthusiastic worker.
Luckily, the battery still had some of its 7 year warranty left on it and it cost us considerably less to replace it.
Chad then went to work and I waited for the time to go pick up Caleigh.
I picked her up and then as a special surprise, took her to her favorite place to eat for lunch, Chick-fil-a. She ate her kids meal and then played on the playground for about an hour. She was so giddy. I tried getting details about her day from her, but mainly got short one word or yes or no answers.
If she is this forthcoming with information now, I dread the days of her becoming a teenager!
All in all, she had a great first day of school and was ready to do it all over again the next day!
