While trying to milk every last ounce out of our season passes, we hit Fright Fest on the very last day that Six Flags was open for the season. The A Team had such a good time going with us this summer that they purchased season passes for themselves for next year already and were able to use them for the rest of this season as well. Caleigh hadn't been feeling well in the days leading up to this day but was super excited about going with her friends again so we went ahead as planned. The A Team had been the day before already, but were happy to be back again and ride rides with Caleigh. Chad had to work at the last minute and was unable to come. It was so very cold! Caleigh and I both came home with windburned faces due to the intense wind! Despite the bitter cold, we had fun.............. until the witching hour when the monsters hit the park!
Caleigh was so happy to be with these boys! She really enjoys their company! She enjoyed trick or treating in Bugs Bunny World. And despite having a small asthma attack right before spotting Daffy Duck, she still ran to him and smiled for a picture!
Anthony was very brave. They had a coffin "ride" that enclosed you and then shook and talked to you in total darkness. There was a night vision camera inside and big tv's outside so everyone could watch your face as you "rode" the coffin. I couldn't imagine getting in but Anthony was all too eager to jump right in!
As the day wore on, Caleigh was feeling worse and worse and was getting colder and colder. Her one constant request was that we make our way to the MindBender, her favorite roller coaster, before we left.
After stopping to grab some hot coffee and hot chocolate from the ice cream shop, we were making our way to the MindBender. At this point, a stream of horrible looking creatures begins to flood the park. Caleigh sees one not-so-horrible looking man and FREAKS OUT! She starts screaming and crying and demanding to leave immediately. I told her to look the other way and I would keep walking very fast to the MindBender for her. That didn't help. I was forced to cover her stroller so she could not see anything and she still kept crying and demanding to leave. I asked her if she was sure she wanted to miss riding her favorite coaster and through tears she told me she was sure. She wouldn't even remove the blanket to tell our friends good-bye. She made them peek through the mesh at the top of the stroller. I couldn't resist parking her (unbeknownst to her) near one of the creatures who was posing for pictures and snapping a shot of her hiding out.
I walked all the way to the parking lot with her under the blanket. She refused to let me take it down. Once we were at the car, she jumped in her seat and locked the doors. She was terrified and only saw one semi-scary person the whole day. She was asleep before I hit the interstate to come home.
I called Chad and told him we were on our way home earlier than expected. He had hot showers, hot coffee, hot soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and a roaring fire waiting for us when we got home. It was the perfect way to end a terribly cold day.
